Geometry students get creative!

On the first day of school, my 3rd period Geometry CP class got the opportunity to explore geometric relationships with three-dimensional figures. The task? Given 10 gumdrops and 20 toothpicks, create a structure strong enough to hold the weight of a book. Here are some of the designs:


The students discovered that square figures were crushed beneath the heavy book, but found that triangular structures held the best! Wonderful job, class!
