Welcome!

Hello everyone and welcome to Mrs. Masterson's blog! Since I'm sure I will be referred to as "the new math teacher" for quite some time, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to you.

My name is Becky Masterson and I am excited to start a new school year at CHS. I will be teaching algebra and geometry this semester and also algebra and calculus in the spring.
My alma mater
I grew up in a small town, quite like Jaffrey, called Ledyard in the southeast corner of Connecticut. I went to college at Hofstra University in Long Island, New York. My bachelor's degree is in Mathematics and I have a minor in Psychology. I loved my school so much that I stayed there to earn my master's degree in Math Education. Last year was my first year of teaching and I worked at Legacy High School, a private, special education high school in Manhattan, New York. There I taught 11th and 12th graders in geometry and algebra II/trigonometry. It was an amazing experience.
This summer, my husband accepted a job working at Southern New Hampshire University and I was excited to move north to NH! Hence why I am now here at Conant. Since I am new to the area, I am looking for advice and suggestions about the best places to go and things to see! Some of my hobbies include biking, hiking, letterboxing, trying out new recipes, and spending time with friends and family :)

Me and my husband. He's a math nerd too!
I will be updating this blog to highlight classroom activities and to post a question of the week that students can complete for extra credit. I hope you are getting ready for the new school year!!
